Little Camas

I have been out to Little Camas a couple of times for quick trips and the second year fish seem to be growing pretty quick.  I have caught alot of 13 to 16 inch fish, there should be some nice fish by fall.  Dark wolley buggers all work quite well.

If anyone else is doing any fishing I would like to see the reports, I see alot of views on a topic but no one responds or posts any topics.  Is everyone just sitting on the couch so far this year?

Re: Little Camas

Actually blastncast, I have been out fishing, no couch sitting here.  However, I am chasing warmwater fish right now, but I have been slipping in a trout trip here and there.  I have been meaning to go to little camas, but haven't yet.  Actually, I have been thinking  maybe a little Long Tom Res(I hope there are fish still in there)/Little Camas pontoon trip may be in the future.

Re: Little Camas

When was the last time you fished Long Tom?  I've only fished it once a few years ago and didn't find any fish.  When I got skunked I just figured that it had been drained similar to Camas and there were no fish to carry over.  I've never met anyone who has fished it.  I just saw it on a map one day and decided to give it a try.  What's the story with Long Tom?

Re: Little Camas

Truco I had to google Long Tom to even know where it was.  Please let us know how it goes.  Too many places to fish and too little free time to try them.

Re: Little Camas

I haven't fished it in quite some time.  I am not sure if there are any fish in it either anymore, but if and when I go, I will scope for them with the fish finder.  Actually, I will email F&G and ask them if they know if it has fish right now.  The neat part about that little lake is it is not that far out there and you never see anyone fishing.  I never tooned it, I fished it from the bank.  My problem is that it is hard for me to leave the bass fishing to head out for trout.  Then again, the bass fishing hasn't been that good yet, so I may just go up there and to camas.  Choices choices.

Re: Little Camas

Alright, here is the response I got about Long Tom.

"Long Tom was basically dry by mid summer from 2001-2005.  Reservoir operators don’t really use it for storage anymore because it leaks too much.  For the brief periods that it holds water, there would be some trout carried from Little Camas, but we haven’t stocked fish there in almost 30 years."

I am not sure how the fish get from Little Camas to Long Tom, but probably through one of those canals.  Who knows, maybe there is nothing in there.

Re: Little Camas

Little Camas is rocking.  I fished appx. 7 hrs total last Friday and Sunday and landed somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 fish.  Most were 12-13 inches, but fat as hell.  A couple in the 15" range.  It's going to be even more fun out there this autumn when the little guys have gained another 5-6 inches.

Matt - Thanks for the info about Long Tom.  My brother drove down there a couple weeks ago and reported that the road is pretty heinous. 4x4 low stuff in his F-150 FX4.  He fished, but didn't get a single bump or see a sign of trout.
