Trout and Salmon of North America

Trout and Salmon of North America You may have read my entry awhile ago raving about the artwork of Joe Tomelleri. Well Joe teamed up with uber-guru trout and salmon expert Robert J. Behnke Ph.D., professor emeritus of fishery and wildlife biology at Colorado State University, to produce the book Trout and Salmon of North America. I bought a signed copy and since it arrived I have hardly put it down. Having studied Biology at the University of Utah I find it an amazing read that no dedicated trout or salmon fly fisherman should be without. Several critics and sources have called the book the definitive work on the subject.

Aside from the descriptions of the fish along with amazing illustrations the thing that I think many fisherman will truly appreciate are the range maps for each species and sub-species. If you decide that you want to throw flies at Snake River Finespotted Cutthroat you can look up the specific drainages in western Wyoming where you will find them.
