Tattered Fly Discussion Forum It’s finally here! The Tattered Fly discussion forum is up and live. You’ll find the permanent link in the top nav. A big thanks to Nathan Smith for installing and configuring the forum for me. It’s actually been ready for a couple weeks now but I have been waiting for a custom logo shirt and hat to be made as part of a kickoff contest to launch the forum.

Since an effective forum is dependent on a community of users that interact online, I am going to shamelessly bait users into signing up and posting in the forum with prizes!

Register for the forum and then create or add to a discussion by November 15, 2006 and you are automatically entered in the drawing for the prize package valued at $100. The winner will be announced in the forum on November 16, 2006.

Tattered Fly Prize Package Prize Package:

XL long sleeve Tattered Fly T-shirt
Tattered Fly baseball cap
Assortment of 10 House of Harrop flies
C&F Design flybox
Simms Wading Safety video (VHS)
Trout Bum Diaries volume 1 (DVD)

So get to it. Start discussing fly fishing here in Idaho. I’ll start it off. Yesterday at the South Fork of the Boise, below the dam, I saw a huge Kokanee salmon in the river. What’s it doing there?

And if you just can’t wait to see if you win the hat and shirt you can order your own right now at the new Tattered Fly store. You’ll find a permanent link to the store below the search box on the right sidebar.

Also-let me know if you are interested in moderating any of the topics in the forum. I could certainly use the help.

I really like the design of your web site! Great job. I wish design came easier for me…..Keep up the good work.

I read your post, “Picture Perfect.” It sounds similar to me. I also had the A80 – it lasted about 18 months for me, and then I think it got too cold when I left it in the car overnight. After that, the shutter speed seemed to be frozen at 1/20 of a second. Other than that it still works – all the pictures are washed out unless they are cave pictures or something in the dark.

My replacement was also the A610! I’ve had it for about 10 months now, but am really thinking about a DSLR. I’ve been considering the Rebel XT. Anyway, sounds like we’ve had a similar camera experience – the A80 and A610 are awesome! So what are the main advantages of the 30D and the Rebel XT? Are you happy with the camera?

Oh, also, I really like the way you display photos with the click-to-enlarge feature. Is the code for that available somewhere? Thanks! Great web site.

McFarnell-I love the 30D it’s a great camera. Here is a comparison of the 30D and the new Rebel XTi. The Rebel is probably a better buy unless you see yourself using some of the high-end features. The enlarge feature used on this website uses a freeware called ThickBox.
